Organize documents in Smart Folders
Updated today

When an email is organized into a Smart Folder, any files that are attached to that email will automatically be associated with the folder. You can view these files in multiple places.

Web dashboard

In your dashboard, you'll see a list of your active and archived Smart Folders. When you click on the name of a folder, you'll see everything related to that folder in one view: the timeline, folders, contacts, and more. The "Documents" tab will list the files that are associated with the folder.

  • If you have the Google Drive integration enabled, clicking on the file will open the file in Drive.

  • If you don't have Google Drive enabled, clicking on the file will download the file to your computer.

Folio Gmail sidebar

For our Chrome extension for Gmail users, our Folio sidebar displays a list of all of the files and attachments that are part of the folder's emails. Learn more about our Gmail sidebar here.

Connect with Google Drive

If you use Google Drive, we will automatically upload your email attachments to folders inside your Drive. Learn more about our Google Drive integration in this article. (This integration is available to our paid subscribers.)

Common questions

Why don't I see my documents in the Documents tab?

If the document is attached to an email that was manually moved into the Smart Folder, the document won't appear in the Documents tab.

Does Folio save my documents?

No, it does not. We only represent the files that are attached to emails in your Smart Folder. If you delete these emails from your email, we won't be able to provide you with copies of your email attachments.

If you use our Google Drive integration, we do upload your email attachments to Drive. This information doesn't get deleted if you delete your emails.

Can I export my documents using Folio?

At this time, no. You can export a PDF of the emails in your Smart Folder, but this export does not include email attachments.

Can I share my documents when I share my timeline?

No, we do not share your documents or email contents with others.
